WHAT ARE COOKIES
Cookies are files that can be downloaded to your device through websites. They are tools that play an essential role in providing numerous information society services. Among other things, they allow a website to store and retrieve information about a user's browsing habits or their device and, depending on the information obtained, can be used to recognise the user and improve the service offered.
Following the entry into force of the amendment to the "Information Society Services Act" (LSSICE) established by Royal Decree-Law 13/2012, websites that use non-essential cookies are required to obtain the user's express consent before the user browses them.
MANUTEX WINE S.L.U. on its own behalf or on behalf of a third party engaged to provide measurement services, may use cookies when the user browses the website. Cookies are files sent to the browser by a web service in order to record the user's activity during their browsing time.
The cookies used are associated only with an anonymous user and their computer, and do not in themselves provide the user's personal data.
By using cookies, the server where the website is hosted can recognise the web browser used by the user in order to make browsing easier. They are also used to measure audience and traffic parameters and to control the process and number of visits.
Users can configure their browser to be notified of the receipt of cookies and to prevent their installation on their device. Please consult your browser's instructions and manuals for more information.
It is not necessary for the user to allow the installation of the cookies sent to the website, or by the third party acting on its behalf, in order to use the website, without prejudice to the fact that the user may need to log in to each of the services whose provision requires prior registration.
In any case, cookies are temporary in nature with the sole purpose of making their subsequent transmission more efficient. Cookies will under no circumstances be used to collect personal information.
TYPES OF COOKIES
Depending on the entity that manages the domain from which the cookies are sent and processes the data obtained, two types can be distinguished:
- First-party cookies: those sent to the user's terminal equipment from a computer or domain managed by the publisher itself and from which the service requested by the user is provided.
- Third-party cookies: those sent to the user's terminal equipment from a computer or domain that is not managed by the publisher but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies. Where cookies are installed from a computer or domain managed by the publisher itself, but the information collected through them is managed by a third party, they cannot be considered first-party cookies.
There is also a second classification according to the length of time they remain stored in the client's browser, which may be:
- Session cookies: designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website. They are usually used to store information that only needs to be kept for the provision of the service requested by the user on a single occasion (e.g. a list of products purchased).
- Persistent cookies: the data remains stored on the device and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the person responsible for the cookie, which can range from a few minutes to several years.
Finally, there is another classification with five types of cookies according to the purpose for which the data obtained is processed:
- Technical cookies: those that allow the user to browse a website, platform or application and to use the different options or services available on it, such as controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted areas, remembering the items that make up an order, completing the purchase of an order, applying to register for or participate in an event, using security features while browsing, storing content for video or sound broadcasting, or sharing content through social networks.
- Personalisation cookies: they allow the user to access the service with some predefined general characteristics based on a series of criteria on the user's device, such as the language, the type of browser used to access the service, the regional settings from where the service is accessed, etc.
- Analytics cookies: they allow the person responsible for them to monitor and analyse the behaviour of the users of the websites to which they are linked. The information collected through this type of cookie is used to measure the activity of the websites, applications or platforms and to build browsing profiles of the users of those sites, applications and platforms, in order to introduce improvements based on the analysis of the usage data of the service's users.
- Advertising cookies: they allow the most efficient possible management of advertising space.
- Behavioural advertising cookies: they store information about users' behaviour obtained through continuous observation of their browsing habits, which makes it possible to develop a specific profile in order to show advertising based on it.
- External social network cookies: they are used so that visitors can interact with the content of different social platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and are generated only for users of those social networks. The conditions of use of these cookies and the information collected are governed by the privacy policy of the corresponding social platform.
